Airlines Lose 30 Million Bags A Year

From Yahoo News:

GENEVA - If you've ever been frustrated after an airline lost your luggage, you're in the good company of millions of others. An estimated 30 million bags were temporarily lost by airlines in 2005, and 200,000 of those bags were never reunited with their owners, according to an industry report released Monday.

We contributed to the 3 million with our trip to Europe last year, and nearly contributed to the 200,000 because the Air France baggage handlers had difficulty with the concept that Venice is in the north part of Italy.

Want an Aisle Seat? Pay Up

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Northwest Airlines is introducing aisle seats for a fee:
Northwest will now reserve a few aisle and exit-row seats for people who are willing to pay $15 extra when they check in.

On a Boeing 757, only 10 seats will be for sale for the extra $15 fee. Six of those seats are in exit rows and four are aisle seats near the front of the 160-seat coach cabin.

On domestic flights, Cron stressed, there will be no extra fee attached to about 95 percent of the seats in coach. But the airline wants to take the next 30 to 60 days to get a handle on consumers' willingness to pay extra to get a better seat, and the carrier may expand the number of seats offered with the new fee.

Springtime in Paris

This is just a bit tardy, but . . . Snookums and I took our honeymoon (our FIRST honeymoon, anyway) in Paris. Yes, the one in France. Here are a few pictures:

The French referendum on the European Union was going on while we were there. I wanted to get a picture of Oui and Non posters together and caught this one from the top of a tour bus:

Next, a typical Paris street. Actually, some of them are more picturesque than this one, some of them aren't, so this one is pretty much average.

Of course, any trip to Paris includes an elevator ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower:

Snookums and I recently took a quick trip up to South Dakota, where we met up with my sister and brother for an afternoon shopping outing. We got into our new Acura RL and set out into the sunny and fairly warm April day.
